Services

vCIO leadership, IT strategy, digital transformation, and security governance, including FERPA, GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI compliance.

Four focused engagements. Every one starts with an assessment and ends with a roadmap you own — including the ones you decide not to fund.

IT Strategy Development

Most technology decisions get made one purchase at a time, by people who are not the people who live with the consequences. We replace that with a strategy: a documented, sequenced plan that connects infrastructure investment to the goals on your operating plan.

We start with what you already own — contracts, licenses, hardware, and the informal knowledge that only your team has. From there we build a roadmap that sequences the work, names an owner and a cost for every item, and states how you will know whether it worked.

We deliberately do not recommend a platform before we understand your business. Where a migration makes sense we will say so; where the honest answer is to leave a working system alone for another year, we will say that too.

Deliverable: prioritized 12-month roadmap + budget guidance Best for: 20–200 employee firms without in-house IT leadership

Digital Transformation

Modernization fails when it is treated as a technology project. The same migration that is routine in one company stalls in another because nobody mapped the operational dependencies — the three systems that talk to the one being replaced, the two people who know the workaround, the report finance runs on Fridays.

We run these as phased, reversible programmes with explicit risk controls. Each phase has its own go/no-go criteria, so you are never betting a full year of operations on a single cutover weekend.

Typical work includes cloud migration, line-of-business platform upgrades, document and communications modernization, and automating manual processes that quietly consume staff hours.

Deliverable: phased modernization plan with risk controls Best for: cloud moves, platform upgrades, process automation

IT Governance & Risk Management

Governance is what lets a small firm answer a hard question quickly: how would we recover if this system were unavailable tomorrow? That answer needs to exist in writing, be tested, and survive a board meeting.

We establish proportionate frameworks — not enterprise ceremony scaled down, but the controls that match your actual risk and your actual regulatory obligations. That means documented policies, a maintained risk register, a defined security baseline, and a review cadence that produces evidence rather than assurances.

This work is frequently what stands between a company and an expensive problem at renewal time, when an insurer, a customer, or an auditor asks for documentation that did not exist.

Security and compliance are handled as one scope, not two. That means security strategy and execution, the vendor management required to run an outsourced SOC, and the evidence trail for FERPA, GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI — plus cyber insurance, from the application through the renewal. When something does go wrong, incident management runs from the same accountability rather than being handed to whoever happens to be available.

Deliverable: governance cadence, risk register, security baseline Best for: regulated industries, insurance renewals, board reporting

vCIO Leadership

A full-time CIO is a large commitment at 60 employees and frequently a premature one. A vCIO gives you the judgement that commitment is supposed to buy, scoped to what you actually need, and accountable to you rather than to a board you do not control.

You get a named IT leader who joins your leadership meetings, owns your technology roadmap, runs your vendor relationships, and is accountable to you between reviews. When a decision is hard or a vendor is being difficult, there is a person to call.

Most engagements are ongoing with quarterly business reviews. We will also work project-by-project if you only need continuing coverage for a defined period.

Deliverable: ongoing leadership + quarterly business reviews Best for: firms that need an accountable owner for IT without a full-time hire
